December 17, 2021Our Winners of the 2021 Kids’ Book Choice Awards
Every Child a Reader, the charitable arm of the Children’s Book Council, announced the winners of its Kids’ Book Choice Awards, formerly known as the Children’s & Teen Choice Book Awards. Among the prize-winning titles were two published by Penguin Random House imprints, and one published by a Penguin Random House Publisher Services client publisher.

November 29, 2021Stephen Sondheim, Musical Theater Legend and Knopf Author, Dies at 91
When Stephen Sondheim died last Friday at the age of 91, he left behind a treasure trove of music and lyrics that forever changed American theater and beguiled and delighted audiences far and wide. Those lyrics, which were collected in two separate volumes – FINISHING THE HAT and LOOK, I MADE A HAT – were published by Knopf in 2010 and 2011. And a third book, the pocket-sized SONDHEIM: Lyrics, was published by Everyman’s Library just last year.

Presentations of the year’s “best books” are well underway, and the New York Times Book Review’s annual list is among the most anticipated and scrutinized. For their” 100 Notable Books of 2021″ the NYTBR editors have selected 22 Fiction and Poetry and 19 Nonfiction and Memoir titles published by Penguin Random House imprints, 41 in all.

November 18, 2021Our WOW Nov. 17 Night: ‘21 NBAs For PRH Fiction, Nonfiction, YPL
Were you able to watch the National Book Awards ceremony, live-streamed in part from the 2nd floor of our 1745 Broadway headquarters, the evening of November 17? If so, you saw a WOW of an evening for us. Our authors won in each of the three categories in which we were shortlisted: Young People’s Literature: Malinda Lo for “Last Night at the Telegraph Club;” Nonfiction: Tiya Miles for “All That She Carried;” and Fiction: Jason Mott for “Hell of a Book.” Penguin Random House’s long, wonderful history with the National Book Awards continues. In eight of the past nine years, at least one of our imprints’ books has been voted a winner by its category’s judges.

November 11, 2021Viking to Publish Biography of George Floyd by Prize-Winning Washington Post Reporters
Viking announced HIS NAME IS GEORGE FLOYD: One Man’s Life and The Struggle for Racial Justice, a biography by two prizewinning Washington Post reporters, Robert Samuels and Toluse Olorunnipa, will be published on May 17, 2022. Executive Editor Ibrahim Ahmad at Viking acquired North American rights from Karen Brailsford and Todd Shuster at Aevitas Creative Management.

October 27, 2021PRH and Barack Obama Make Donations in Honor of the Publication of “RENEGADES: Born in the USA”
In honor of Penguin Random House’s global publication of RENEGADES: Born in the USA, a collection of conversations between Barack Obama, the 44th president of the United States, and legendary musician Bruce Springsteen, Penguin Random House is making a financial donation to the Obama Foundation’s youth leadership programs, expanding upon the company’s earlier donation of one million children’s books to First Book in the Obama family name. A portion of President Obama’s proceeds from RENEGADES will benefit youth leadership programs at the Obama Foundation.
