  Penguin Press Author Greta Thunberg Named TIME’s 2019 Person of the Year

  Greta Thunberg is TIME magazine’s 2019 Person of the Year. This is the first time the publication has bestowed the highly regarded honor on a teenager, making the 16-year-old Swedish climate change activist its youngest ever Person of the Year. TIME notes: “Thunberg is not a leader of any political party or advocacy group. She is neither the first to sound the alarm about the climate crisis nor the most qualified to fix it. She is not a scientist or a politician.

  Two New Bestselling Authors – Adriana Trigiani and Denise Kiernan – Make Dutton Their Home

  Dutton has announced the addition of two new bestselling authors to the Dutton list: Adriana Trigiani, bestselling author of contemporary women’s fiction, most notably The Shoemaker’s Wife and the Big Stone Gap series, and Denise Kiernan, author of critically acclaimed bestsellers The Last Castle and The Girls of Atomic City. The Associated Press ran an exclusive on the Trigiani announcement and her desire to be re-united with Executive Editor Maya Ziv, and CNN’s Reliable Sources ran a separate exclusive on the Kiernan acquisition, which Editor in Chief John Parsley will be editing, with CNN’s Brian Stelter saying, “Whatever Denise Kiernan writes, I want to read.”

  Reversing its customary order of presentation, following the previous unveiling of this year’s “10 Best Books,” the New York Times Book Review has posted its list of “100 Notable Books of 2019” selected by its editors across the Adult Fiction & Poetry and Nonfiction categories. Nearly half the list—45 titles—are ours, our highest collective total ever.
