Whitehead has won the Pulitzer Prize, a National Book Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and the MacArthur Fellowship. The Underground Railroad was adapted into an Amazon miniseries written and directed by Barry Jenkins, and The Nickel Boys is soon to be a major motion picture directed by RaMell Ross.
