1.   When we first meet Aurora, she has her life completely under control, but the loss of her mother changes everything. Have you ever experienced an event that altered the course of your life? Did you feel any personal parallels to Aurora’s emotional journey with grief? When did you feel most proud of her in this book?

2.   Did you think Aurora was happy in her relationship with Jason? Do you believe she would have married him if she hadn’t gone to Sicily?

3.   What would you say are the main themes of the novel? Did you consider it optimistic that Aurora could find new happiness after losing someone so beloved in her life? What would you say was the most difficult moment of change for her?

4.   Aurora’s big, boisterous Italian family is steeped in tradition. Did you have any favorite scenes with them?

5.   When Aurora goes to Sicily, she meets so many relatives who broaden her perspective on her life and her future. Which character do you
feel had the biggest impact on Aurora during her time in Sicily?

6.   The relationship between Aurora and her grandfather starts off rocky. Did you think Aurora was too hard on him, given that he’d lost so much time with his daughter? Or did you think he was too gruff and emotionally closed off as she tried to make a good impression?
