1. Camino Island undergoes a traumatic incident in Hurricane Leo, one that will clearly impact the local population for a long time to come. Would you return to the island, or would living there not be worth the risk?
2. Of the various people who come and go within Bruce’s circle of friends, who—if any—do you identify with the most?
3. Did you believe that Nick Sutton’s theories surrounding the details of Nelson’s murder would be correct, or were you surprised by the accuracy of his predictions?
4. After Brittany Bolton’s death, Bruce temporarily “fires” the private investigation firm Alpha North Solutions, although ultimately he winds up going back. Both Bruce and Alpha North operate in a moral gray area, but this incident proved too much for him. Discuss whether the ends can (or cannot) sometimes justify the means.
5. The nursing home scheme that is uncovered during the course of the book results in many dozens of people arrested and charges filed against various players involved. But ultimately do you think these nursing homes will turn out for the better, or simply wind up in the hands of another negligent corporation?
