Discussion Questions:
1. What would you do if your date ended up being your new boss? Or employee? Would you be able to continue working there?
2. Have you ever dealt with burnout in your job or at school? How did you overcome it?
3. Margot and Luke both deal with familial expectations, particularly regarding their careers, and the struggle to not disappoint anyone. But is the pressure more self-imposed or external? What kind of pressure do you think is greater?
4. At first, Margot is worried about the age gap between her and Luke. Do you think age is just a number, or can you relate to her uncertainty?
5. Margot and Luke live in Napa, where a lot of people they know are small-business owners, including Margot herself and Luke’s mother. What do you think are some of the pros and cons of owning your own business?
6. When Luke brings up the possibility of working at his previous company again, Margot and Luke have a huge argument. Do you think one of them was clearly wrong or right? What could they have done to communicate better? Do you think the points they make are valid, or do they mostly stem from their own insecurities?
7. Luke delayed telling his mother the truth about dating Margot and not Avery partly because he knew his mother wanted him and Avery to be together. Have you ever done something similar? Did it end up backfiring or was it okay when the truth came out?

9. Luke seriously considers returning to his old job, but ultimately declines the offer despite the perks (better position, title, and salary). What do you think of Luke’s choice? Would you have made the same choice? Do you value passion over money when it comes to a job, or would you rather make more money and enjoy comfort outside of your work life?
10. Where do you think Luke and Margot went on their vacation in the last chapter? Would you ever want to go on a surprise vacation, or do you like to be the planner
