Brian Payton’s non-fiction has appeared in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, The Globe and Mail, and Canadian Geographic. His previous book, Shadow of the Bear: Travels in Vanishing Wilderness, was chosen as a Barnes & Noble Book Club Pick, a Best Outdoor Book of 2006, a Vancouver Magazine Best Book, and a finalist at the Banff Mountain Book Festival.
