George Amabile

Geroge Amabile was born in Jersey City, New Jersey in 1936, and first came to Canada in 1963. His work appeared in Canada, the USA, Europe, South America, Australia, and New Zealand in over one hundred anthologies, magazines, journals, and periodicals, including Saturday Night, The New Yorker, Harper’s, Poetry (Chicago), Sur (Buenos Aires), Canadian Fiction, Canadian Literature, and Margin (England). He has published seven books, including The Presence of Fire, which won the Canadian Authors Association Award for Poetry. His long poem “Durée” won third prize in the CBC Literary Competition for 1991. George Amabile lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
