Edwin Howard Simmons

Brig. Gen. Edwin Howard Simmons, USMC (Ret.) served with the Marine Corps from 1942 to 1978, including combat in both World War II and Vietnam, and was the director of Marine Corps History and Museums, retiring in 1996. His previous books include The United States Marines: A History, and The Marines. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia.
