Patrick House is the writer in residence at Stanford’s Center for the Explanation of Consciousness. He has a PhD in neuroscience from Stanford University. He is the author of Nineteen Ways of Looking at Consciousness and has written for The New Yorker, Slate, and Los Angeles Review of Books.
