Violaine Huisman

Violaine Huisman was born in Paris in 1979 and has lived and worked in New York for more than twenty years. Currently the Artistic Director of L’Alliance NY, she previously ran the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s literary series and organized multidisciplinary arts festivals across the city. Originally published by Gallimard under the title Fugitive parce que reine, her debut novel The Book of Mother was a New York Times Notable Book and longlisted for the 2022 International Booker Prize. She adapted The Monuments of Paris from the French.
