W.L. Morton

About the Author

A graduate of the University of Manitoba and of Oxford, W.L. MORTON (1908–1980) was provost of University College, University of Manitoba, and was professor of Canadian history and head of the university’s department of history. Executive editor of the Canadian Centenary Series, he was the author of many historical works, including Manitoba: A HistoryThe Kingdom of Canada, and God’s Galloping Girl: The Peace River Diaries of Monica Storrs, 1929-1931. His honours included the Tyrrell Medal of the Royal Society of Canada, the Governor General’s Award for Non-fiction, and the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws of the University of Toronto.
